Windscreen washer wires
« on: April 16, 2004, 05:38:01 »
Hi,

My windscreen washer does not work because the wires are not connected and I cannot locate them under the hood. Mine is a late 250SL. Does anyone have a diagram or know the positive wire colour for the washer pump?

Thanks
Andrew

One side of the washer pump is wired to ground and the other gets +12V from pin C on the turn signal stalk.  Use a volt metter to figure out which pin is charged when activating the washer switch.

Thanks Jeff. Will do. Actually, I need to replace the stalk with a new one unless anyone out there knows how to fix the stalk when it does not engage for a left hand turn indication?

New switches for the signal stalk are expensive.  To fix the "click and hold" function of the signal stalk, I have been told you can use a very small round file to file out the indent that the post is held in while signaling.  The problem is that over the years this small post wears the material down and you no longer have a nice indent to hold the post.

Check out this old thread, very informative!
