Polyurethane bushings for the sway bar and end links
« on: November 20, 2010, 21:06:25 »
Hi--

I did a search on this, and I didn't find the answer.

Can we use polyurethane bushings on the sway bar?

Most of the "universal" sets I've seen for the end links look to have the same inner diameter (ID) as the stock ones, but the OD is not as large. Is this a problem?

Also, the poly bushings on the end links will not compress as much as the rubber bushings will. Will this affect installation and/or alignment?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Joe

Hello Joe,

You can use the end link kits sold at Autozone.  A slightly smaller OD is not critical. When the suspension is loaded and at rest the sway bar ends should be as horizontal as possible. I cut the metal spacer tubes  a bit if needed and tap the threaded bols a bit furhter to make them work perfectly. I think these kits are still less than $20.00 US
