Can anyone tell me how much space should be between the rear lip of the hard top and the body of the vehicle?
I have just set my newly repainted and restored hard top on my 1970 280SL and it just looks like it is sitting higher than I remember before.
I had all the rubbers and seals replaced with all MB OEM parts from the Classic Center. The fit seems nice and I was able to lock it down front and rear with minimal force. But there is at least .25 inch (6.5mm) space between the rear most chrome lip and the body of the car. This gap is even wider at the two rear corners as you can see by the picture I have attached.
Is this OK, will the rubber seals settle down and allow the gap to lessen, or is my memory of the pre-restoration gap wrong?
Thanks for any input anyone can share.
Jim
