RAG TOP NESTING

HELLO EVERYONE
I AM HAVING A HELL OF A TIME TRYING TO NEST MY RAG TOP IN IT'S COMPARTMENT. I THINK I AM FOLDING IT THE RIGHT WAY,THEN I PUT IT DOWN INTO THE SPACR & IT SEAMS TO STICK OUT ON THE ENDS A LITTLE. I HAVE TO FORCE THE BOOT COVER DOWN ON TO IT. SO NOW THE BOOT COVER IS GETTING MISALIGNED. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??

That's the way mine works, too.  You have to slam the top shut and check that it latches on each side.  There are supposed to be two 1" square rubber pads (1/8" thick?) glued to the underside of the soft top lid.  They protect the metal from the posts on the soft top frame.

You are not far so come on up to "West Point 2004" on May 23rd...you'll have 15 or 20 "experts" to show you how to stow the top.

Seriously, local events are one of the best ways to learn what's right or wrong with a car...take advantage of the free advice, go to your local events...

  There are two answers to your question. If you will be attending the West Point meeting or some other local meeting I would offer the polite answer. Come to West Point and we can look at it. If I am never going to see you my answer would probably defame the great state of New Jersey.
  I would rather see you and your 113 at West Point.

'69 280SL w/ wrong color rag top

My soft top appears to fit fine in the up position.  But I also have problems getting it to nest correctly.  I bring the back section up into the top bow before lowering.  It folds down but appears not to be folding all the way in.  The top rear bow appears to be hanging up on the center rear latch  mechanism, not allowing to go all the way in.  This puts pressure on the convertible top lid and I am afraid that where the top rests against the latch mechanism a hole will be worn in the top, not a good thing.  Also when I do bring it up the front section does not straighten out without a little upward force. The four spring are present. Someone told me that the side rollers are wearing out.  Are there any other adjustments that might need to be made so that it functions correctly?
