Hello, Mike,

I believe the rods are slightly bent by design anyway.

I believe it would not make any difference in the running as long as all the linkage is correctly adjusted.

In faffing around today I noticed something that doesn't feel right. The throttle linkage rod that goes across the top of the valve cover... on the LHS is a ball joint to connects down to the vertical. That then runs (to the right) through a bracket and then on to a similar set up on the right side.

Adjacent that LHS bracket I have what feels like a jury rig solution to stop the whole linkage heading to the left . As you can see.... it's a jubilee clip. I'm guessing that our friends at MB didn't put it there originally. I am loathe to change a very good solution but it really doesn't feel right!

(oh, and note the Metzler pipe. Does that make my car worth $175k? ;))

Hey James, I don't think its supposed to be there. It appears to be a quick fix to the lateral movement the cross-over rod gets when its worn. There is a brass bushing under that bracket that needs to be replaced. Somewhere here Cees K. has good instructions on the change-out. I was able to do mine because of his good instructions.
