Good point. On rallies, at night, the high beams (driving lamps, which I have) really add to long range visibility. However in the mountains with snow, hairpins etc they are not as useful as you might think... wide beams showing you the turn into corners are more useful... these are like the built in fog lamps... wider, but need to be better.
So ideally I'd have 4 lamps on my bumper. Alternatively, many drivers use one high beam, and one wide beam angled sightly to the right...
But I'm very happy with my Hella high beams. Both form and function.
