Removing the top of the air cleaner housing
« on: April 11, 2011, 13:55:58 »

I can’t get the top of the air cleaner canister off (its probably been there a long time), is there any particular trick?  I undid all the  clamps and have pulled quite hard.

Don’t want to pull any harder before I ask if there is some trick to this (or if I'm doing something wrong/stupid),  it’s the first time I’ve done this.

As long as you have all three clips unclipped and out of the way, it should pop off. The seal has probably stuck itself on over the years...keep pulling up (carefully!) Do you have the large hose on or off?

There is a tang toward the front of the car that fits into a groove on the base. You need to turn the top about 1 inch counterclockwise to release it.

Oh, if that is the case on yours Theo -- turn then tug... Mine is just a lifter. In fact, had it off yesterday to check on my KN. Still looks pretty clean after two years.
