IP Linkage rod

First
First, I'd like to thank the group and the administrators for this most valuable source of information.  I have used it countless times to research questions and always seem to find the answer.  I've just begun to do the linkage tour and have a couple of questions for anyone who might know.
1) Attached is a picture of the IP linkage rod.  One nut is welded to the rod.  It looks like a PO decided to do some welding or is this correct (or maybe threadlock on steroids)?  If not, does anyone know where to get another.  I plan to replace ball sockets and bushings as well if one supplier can provide all.
2) A clamp was used to keep the crossover rod from slipping out of the bushing and just from looking it over, I'm guessing a circlip goes on the end of the rod.  Is this correct and does anyone have a part # or access to that.
Thanks again to all,
Jim

Yep.  That's buggered up.  I bought mine from the dealer.  It wasn't too expensive but that was in 2003.

Any idea what the part number is?  I've noticed also that the center linkage going down through the manifold to the block rubs the heat shield slightly.  Is this to be expected, or an indication of other problems?

Sign up for the Mercedes Electronic Parts Catalog at https://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/home.jsp and you can find your own part numbers.  It's easy to use, and free if you live in the US, the credit card is only to verify that you have a US address.

Thanks.  I didn't know that existed.
