A Visit to 49er Country
« on: April 30, 2011, 04:15:35 »
Today, Dick M. and I decided to take advantage of the perfect Spring weather and head out through part of the California Gold Country. Starting in Nevada City, we made our way along historic Highway 49, while taking advantage of several breathtaking side roads along the way. Eventually we made our way to Coloma, site of the early Gold Rush, where we joined forces with another member -- none other than our own 49er! The three Pagodas then scampered through more spectacular scenery, eventually arriving at 49er's place. What a treat! I can tell you, his car is as awesome in person as it is on this site. Such originality -- everything as it should be -- it was like time travel! Anyway, after a nice but too short visit we headed home. What a Day. Thanks Guys.

Absolutely gorgeous, cars and scenery.  8)  I am very jealous.

James, what is the colour code for your hard top/hub caps?  I notice that your wheel colour is also dark (to match the hub caps?) and not white.  I have blue hard top/ hub caps but my wheel colour is white to match the car.  Should my wheels be the colour of the car or the colour of the hub cap? ??? ???

Hi James,
It sure was great to see you and Dick yesterday and take a little tour in our SL's. You guys (and your cars) looked mighty sharp in my rear view mirror and I guess it is time for me to pull off the Hard Top and enjoy this nice weather we are finally having. Thanks also for the nice words about my car. I never intended to be a "collector" of that car, it just worked out that way and am so happy I hung on to it for all these years!
Mrs. 49er and I are looking forward to the next time we all get together for another ride through the foothills.

John

Hey John. Consider yourself initiated into the Gold Country Section of the Pagoda SL Group. It was fun. Dick's car is awfully pretty as well. And yes, get that hard-top off soon! (carefully!)

Thanks Marcus. My top is dark blue (332) as are the covers. Now I believe you referring to my wheels themselves? if so, good eye! yes they should be white like the car. Somehow mine were painted black. I have debated painting them white again -- but frankly the black looks good to me. It blends in with the black rockers (did I hear a groan?)... Another area I am a non-conformist is the wheel wells. Mine are very dark and dirty shade of crusty -- presumably a body schutz. In comparison, John's wells were the correct body color and look like they were painted yesterday.

Hi John..
It was a great day for a drive and thank you and Mrs. 49er for your hospitality.
Your car is magnificent... I've never seen a totally original factory finished Pagoda that is as pristine.

Hope you'll make it up to Nevada City for a visit. Be great to show your car in our Nevada City Foreign Car show in June...

Maybe we'll scare up a few more Pagodas for the show.
