Slim Pickins at Carlisle Pa Import Car Show

No not the actor! Went up to Carlisle, Pa today to the annual import-kit car show. In the past the flea market portion of the show yielded some much needed used parts. Not so at the most recent shows I've attended including this year's show. There was only one station that I could find today that had any MB parts and the pickins were very slim indeed. It appears that if you have a British car--Triumph, MG, Austin--you are in good shape and can find quite a few deals. Also lots of Volvo parts. Maybe it's the economy or maybe parts for our cars are drying up, but for MB owners these shows have been a real disappointment the last few years. Curious about the shows across the pond in Europe. Are you fining the same situation?

Hi George,
We must have missed each other.  Was up there on Friday.
But muddy and wet though.
Found one fella selling loads of W111 parts and a few pagoda parts.
Another fella down a few stalls was selling a few parts, but not much.
That is pretty much how it has been for the last 5 or 6 years or so.
Never was much on the MB parts as I remember.
But I am still pining to go to Mannheim for the big show.  Heard and seen pictures in magazines of loads and loads of MB parts.
Maybe it's because it's a German show and has German car parts there.

Hmmmm, I wonder why you can get lots of parts for British cars? Could it be that the cars have rusted away leaving the owner with a pile of parts? Or the cars are worth that much more in bits than whole

It's the same at the famous 'Beaulieu autojumble' here in the UK very little if any MB stuff.
You could build an MGB in the car park with the parts on offer!

Thought about going by on Friday but got tied up, Walt. Several years back, I recall being able to find quite a bit more. Even found a complete Euro headlight assembly in decent shape along with some much needed door hardware and several new and old style fuel pumps suitable for rebuild. The Mannheim show you are talking about --is that the Germany Mannhiem show or is there one in Manheim, Pa. If your are going over to Germany, let us all know how the shows are there and above all else, enjoy the great German beer and food! My wife and i are long overdue for a trip back to our old stomping grounds!
