Can Anyone Identify This Part?
« on: June 14, 2011, 01:33:33 »
I am about to replace my distributor, coil, resistor etc.  There is what looks like some sort of condensor wired to one of the coil terminals but I do not know exactly what it is or its function (see picture).  Dan thinks it is some sort of condensor for perhaps radio suppression.  Before I start exchanging parts and perhaps removing this part, can anyone identify what it might be or perhaps someone else has one of these on thier car.  Is it necessary?  It is slightly larger than the condensor on the distributor.  Thanks for any help.

standard radio supressor, cost about 99p from a local accessory store!

Work well to reduce interference on radio stations.

Thanks Jaymanek.  I take it as most others do not have one that it is not really necessary.  I'll remove it and see how the radio sounds.  I can always put it back if there is a lot of interference.
