111, 112 speedometer cable install

please advise
two speedo cables have broken on my '64 Cabriolet
just purchased another cable $200+ouch
is there a special way to install the cable, I may have a kink in it, but don't really see one
been using the original fire wall hole for entry.......the first two cables were used- they usually last a lifetime

I never buy cables from MB, I have them made for 1/4 the price and usually add a few cm for ease of installation.
