It is a great article. Really sings the Pagoda praises. Plus a small price guide and mention of our site here.

I was called upon by the author to read his manuscript prior to publication, and also supplied him with some background information on the car and some resources.  He took the info and "ran with it" big time; he did a great job.  I actually had nothing to say about the article he sent me for my comments, other than "great job!"

It is a very good article. There is one error, it listed the exhaust as "single" on page 23.

Only $7.00 for 1 year of mags. October mag. is not out yet on e-mail but should be soon.

I would disagree that the 280 is the last and best of the Pagodas.

The headline said "last (can't argue with that) and most desireable Pagoda". Most desireable is argueable, but a lot of people think so, ergo the price difference between the 280 and the other models. Personally, I think the 250 should be priced at a premium; both for its rarity and because it was not encumbered with the later environmental and safety changes.

I'm sorry I misquoted "desirable" for best.  Yes, it is the most desirable, as determined by the market.  That is a combination of misinformation and quantity produced, in my opinion.  The bigger (engine size) is better mentality prevails, but is not always true, as in other areas.  Postitive press is always good, though.

250sl is in actuality probably the best-------------the 280sl had 10 more hsp, but this is probably negated with all of the emisions stuff. Also the rarest. There are a great number of 280sl's out there

We certainly all have our opinions.  A few things are certain--

While the 250 is, most definitely the rarest, in a buck from tradition this rarity has never translated into pricing premiums.  Why?  I don't know, but can suggest that the cars are really very similar as far as the market is concerned.  Our collective vast knowledge here exaggerates the differences; the market never has.

The 280 is generally, by price at least, the most desired.

I would agree that the Pagodas are single, not dual exhaust.  Two tips on one muffler doth not make a dual exhaust.  With mufflers and resonators shared, most woud call it a single exhaust system even with two pipes.

There really are very few "emissions related" encumbrances that affect this car; what does can be bypassed or removed easily on the late-model units.  That's a testiment to quality engineering.  I think I removed the one wire from one solenoid on mine...no difference in runnability.
