« on: October 04, 2011, 23:11:18 »
Would anyone the size of the three bolts and type that afix the steering box to the frame? Can  not find in shop manual. Also the torque specs. I seem to recall the bolts had a washer  head.

IAre the numbers refering to a part number. I called a major bolt supplier who was at a loss as what the they refer to .
He understood that 3x was the grade, 10mm the size but did not understand what the remaining numbers were. Do you have any additional information.

Thank You foryour help. As you can see you were the only reply, I would like to reinstall the steering box this weekend.

Yes that's an MB part number. It would be worth calling your local MB parts dealer although they'd probably be a special order and maybe north of $10 each.

I may be able to extract and measure one by the weekend if no-one else has the information to hand.

Hi, Ron,

3x is the quantity required.

I have now added the full dimensions from the DIN specs book which I did not have handy yesterday.

Hope that helps.

Naj,

Thank you for the info. You saved me hours of searching a salvage yard looking for the correct size bolt. The DIN spec book that you refered to maybe the bible that would be helpful in putting this car back together. I disassembled it five years ago and have finnaly found the time to reassemble. Where could I a copy?

Hi, Ron,

You'll have to search thru Bob Geco's posts.
He mentioned a friend of his who sells copies.
I got one from him some time ago.

In the mean time, you can always ask here  ;)

I found the DIN spec guide on ebay a few years ago.

The part numbers should be listed in the big MB parts book, but I do not believe they are MB numbers per se, they are the standard DIN coding and classification numbers. Correct?

You haven't been paying attention.  We have the Schuessel-Liste fuer DIN und Urteile online now.

I think I stuck them in the box of parts you picked up. If not I have more around here.
