Clutch Master Cylinder Rebuild question
«

I have the Mercedes kit to rebuild my clutch master cylinder. There is a rubber "bumper" with a hole in the center that fits the push rod. Can anyone tell me the order of assembly ? Spring < Piston < bumper? < washer < snap ring < boot < pushrod or does the bumper go on top of the flat washer ? I don't think I saw one coming out - so I'm not sure where this piece goes. It has a "step" in the diameter and one end seems to fit the push end of the piston. Also - does anything hold the boot into the master cylinder or do you just push it into the top? Any help is appreciated...

this is a link to a similar kit on ebay - the piece in question is the rubber piece on the right:

According to the Classic Center, the extra rubber "donut"/bushing is a grommet for a reservoir tank for models that mount direct to the master cylinder - essentially a "multi application" kit.... not needed on the 280SL...

I don't know on the SL, but on the 3.5 Coupe that donut goes in the cavity where the line from the brake fluid line arrives to feed the system.

So on the 3.5 coupe the line feeding the brake fluid is not a compression fitting/hard line ?
