Hi All,

I am almost done my 65 230SL. Here are some pics. It was a real challenge. Only the Soft Top left which I'm sure will be another challenge!

Nice.  Get the black with natural dot coco mats from www.cocomats.com  They also make one for the trunk.

Jeff,
Your posting was just what I needed to lift my spirits.  I'm within a few days of having my 67 230SL stripped to the bone.  It will go to the body restorer in about a week to put on a rotisserie.  My engine is gone to Metric and my injection pump is gone to Jerry Fairchild Industries.
I'm just about at the bottom of the curve.  It's all up from here and your car inspires me to not get depressed.
Thanks,
Tom Kizer

Hi Jeff - - - you have produced a very nice photo set.

Who was the vendor for your carpet set?  Quality Tops out of LA? They supply GAHH with their product. My car is a 66 and I will be doing the carpets soon. I am sure you know from your data card that the 230SL's had rubber floor mats and not carpets?  Who cares? - -  yours look great.

GAWD- - - how  I love those tube headers! Mine were gone before I even got the car. I have a later model M130 engine in it now.

One Suggestion: I would paint the radiator tank and un-paint the coolant tank.

Jeff,
it looks tremendous. Have you been documenting all of your efforts? Are more details in other threads? Your experience is a source of inspiration. Good luck with it.

Hello all,
Thanks to all for the kind words. It is not a perfect car, but it did turn out nice. There are still some little things that should be rechromed, and some engine adjustment issues but all in all I am very happy.
pj - I have not had much time for documenting here online, but I do have hundreds of pics from start to finish. I will have to sort them out and post a timeline as some point.
lurch - Regarding the carpet set, Star Quality Parts of Md, although I must say that I work there! and I'm not sure about posting commercial ads! Don't want to get in trouble!
Tomnistuff - I'm glad to be of service! Time flies. You will be motoring before you know it!
John - great idea for the mats. Thanks.
Joe - Thanks a great deal to you my friend. And we just got the kitty - she loves the car too!

Jeff
