Which Thermostat?
« on: May 27, 2004, 07:07:49 »
Again, I can't find it in the BBB (though, I'm learning that this doesn't mean it's not iun there).

What is the correct and/or best temp thermostat to go with for an old 71 280 SL?  My parts supplier offers 3 different temperatures:

Celcius  Fahrenheit
71       159
79       174
87       188

Your thoughts?

Blair,

I think it's the 79 C job.  The BBB lists p/n 001 203 89 75, or optionally, 001 203 90 75.  Both open at 78-80 C.

The 87 C 'stat is for winter use, I'd stay far away from that one. The '71 C 'stat may be for 3.5's, they open at 72-75 C.
