It sometimes tics like crazy. It's gone away, now back big time. I unfastened at engine, removed cable, cleaned and lubed with wd40 equivalent. Any better ideas, the cable looks fine, but I'd rather have no tach that a loud one (automatic trans)

I went through this exercise of lubing the tach cable. It did nothing for me. I eventually pulled the tach out, took it apart and greased it up good. That has been over a year ago and it is totally quiet right now.
Like you.... my tach was so noisy that I disconnected the cable and ran without a tach for quite some time.

Thanks for the insight. It's probably the tach, not the cable. I'll bag the cable, and next time I have the dash out, go after the tach. Too bad I had some of it out this year when I put in a new stereo. Why couldn't the tach make noise then? Oh well, that's the way it always goes.....
