All of the engine stands I've used have adjustable and movable fingers (or arms) which are set up to be bolted to the read of the engine, using the existing transmission bell housing bolt holes. Its as straignt forward as it gets. Be sure your stand has large casters for easy manuvering of the whole thing when you want to move it.
The biggest trick is holding the engine up to the stand with one arm, while trying to thread in the bolts thru the stand fingers, into the rear of the engine.
...just kidding [;-)]. I assume you'll use an engine hoist or similar to hold the engine while you position it and the stand together.
