Clutch for '67' 230SL

Local parts houses do not list 1967 230 SL's in their catalogs. I ordered a clutch kit from a parts house - hoping/guessing that a 1965 kit (1966 was out of stock) would work in my 1967 230. Wrong!
The '65' clutch plate and pressure plate were about 1/2 inch smaller than the parts removed from my "67". Could someone guide me toward the correct parts numbers for the '67'? I assume the 1966 clutch kit would work on the few 1967 230s produced? Is this correct?

I've heard conflicting stories on whether there truly are 1967 230SLs and this may be the cause of some of the confusion. My 230SL was sold and registered in 1967 as a 1967 model, however, the data card build date is in September 1966. I'm not sure that MB used the same model year numbering system that we do where the new model year cars would actually be built during the fall prior to the year they were designated as. My guess is the 1966 clutch kit is what you will need. Hopefully some of our other members can chime in here.

I think they send you the wrong size clutch.  All Sl's should have a 228 mm diameter clutch disk.  Other engines have used 215 mm.  This would explain the 1/2 inch difference.   Sachs still makes the correct size.  Be carefull though a quick check on the internet shows that some parts suppliers are saying all six cylinder cars used  215mm  clutch.
