Carpet Patterns
« on: February 05, 2012, 17:28:12 »
Dear All,

I have a kind request (or cry) for help. I was posting before about the colours/patterns for upholstery code 245. I am particularly careful with the carpets patterns (as someone wrote in the Technical Manual - it calls for a detective work). In any case, if I say that my Pagoda is a European version, 280SL, 1970, the VIN ends 16726, the upholstery code is 245, the carpets are blue 5003, which carpet from the following link is, most likely, the one I should look for?

And here is the link to SLS:

http://www.sls-hh-shop.de/index.php/cat/c3_Mercedes-Benz-230SL-250SL-280SL-Pagoda--R113-W113-.html/XTCsid/b91f91kkcod3emin41pjrlg060#cat_2343

Thanks for help!
Pawel

Pawel,

I believe that you should be looking at the "Nylon Loop" for the correct replacement carpet for your 280 SL. I am sure you will hear from others to confirm this.

Good luck!

Hi, ---------Kevin, I would agree with you regarding carpet type for the 280.   I've read and been told that German square weave carpet (like in our old Porsches) was factory standard for the 230 & 250 models, while "loop" was the type used in the 280.   My question is this: Though loop was standard for the 280, could the buyer of a new one, get German square weave as an option if he/she desired?    If this was possible, then color code numbers would pertain to color only - - not color and "type".   That could open up the flood gates of change :-)    Hmmmmmm..............Experts, your thoughts - if you please.

Cheers all,

Hank

Gentlemen, thank you for advise! Very helpful!

I wonder if potential changes that Hank is describing would have been noted on the datacard anywhere...
