Removal of black plastic grill

Hi you blokes,

Can anyone assist with first hand info on how
to (after removing chrome merc grill) remove the black plastic grill
that seems to be attached to the cooling fan ?i need to get to behind
to paint and clean this area. Or must i approach from the engine bay and take out
the radiator first?

Anyone been there before?

If you mean the grill directly behind the Chrome grill then it
is not plastic, aluminium I think and best approached by removing the bonnet (hood).
Lots of ideas on hood removal on this site.
It is still a little tight but using 'L' shaped philips driver can be done.
Or do you have an electric fan fitted?

Yes, thanks Gnuface, you're right, just had another look
and it's metal not plastic as i first thought.
 I do have an electric fan, seems to be attached to the
grill, looks like they come out together.
will check on procedure for bonnet removal.

Be careful as you remove the two black metal grills as they are aluminum and very soft and easily damaged.

A couple of the passenger-side grill bars have come adrift from the barrel end on mine in about the nine o'clock (from the front) area.  They aren't bent or even displaced, just detached.  It isn't clear how they were attached in the first place.  I wonder if I pushed them loose just by washing with a shaggy wash mitt; "...easily damaged..." is apparently quite true, Garry.  Anyone have a slick method for re-attachment of individual grill bars?

I used JB Weld.  Not very slick, but it worked.

Thanks Chuck.  I imagine it will come to something like that, and experience shows JB Weld can handle it and more (the super-duct tape of fixative goops), so, 'good idea', though I'm a little leery of making a mess with the stuff. 
How were those pieces joined in the first place?
And tangentially, did yours emit a nasty buzzing at certain engine speeds?  [Something on mine now does just that, and I'd been telling myself that I had things pretty well sorted.  In fact, looking for the source of the racket led me to the loose grill bars.  I've found no other likely sources for the din, was just wondering if anyone else's experience with a similar failure also resulted in an unpleasant rattle-buzz.]
