Hi, new poster curious about these cars. I was driving down to San Diego today and spotted a red Mercedes hardtop with a 280 SS badge being driven by an older gentleman. Is this is a factory production? It caught my eye because it had slightly flared wheel arches hiding some rather wide (for the era) tires. Everything looked immaculate - chrome, interior, paint were all pristine and the flares did not look "tacked on". I didn't think to take a picture as I wasn't expecting information on it to be so difficult to find. Any thoughts?
