Blowing Fuse Help Required
« on: June 29, 2012, 08:42:27 »
My 280SL Auto keeps blowing Fuse No. 5, this I believe is the fuse for the brake lights, reverse lights, indicators and fuel guage. I have visually checked all bulb holders, disconnected the indicator flasher unit, the brake light and reverse light switches and it still blows. The hazard lights have never worked since I bought the car but do cancel out the indicators when switched on which I think is normal. My gut feeling is a chafing wire in the indicator switch/hazard switch area or behind the dashboard.

Before I rip the dash out at the weekend has anyone had a similar problem or know a problem area elsewhere?

Thanks

Neil

I don't have a diagram in front of me, but I think the cold start injector and injection pump solenoid are on that circuit, also the auto transmission solenoid too.

Thanks Al but I think I've traced the fault to the internals of the indicator switch (see http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=3821.0 ) and am in the process of sorting the problem hopefully.
