What's a nice looking Pagoda?

I just had a look at a eBay proposed sale and saw a Pagoda with a seemingly one of the highest vin numbers ( 11304412023786, only 3 cars lower than mine!).

The first picture was very welcoming, so out of curiosity I scrolled the pics down and read the description. Frankly, what I saw for the asked 25 grands exceeded my expectations.

Here are the first sentences of the car description: "This is a very nice 1971 Mercedes 280SL. It does run and drive but will need some work. It does have some rust issues as you can see from the pictures but it is a great restoration project."
If this is what they call nowadays a nice looking Pagoda than we can be proud of our cars....

I so agree ... if you look at the close up shot .... then you know there be rust all over and under, I think the paint is most likely holding it all together LOL

I'd have thought that the kind of damage and rust on that poor car, together with the condition of the door cards suggests that it's been submerged at some point.

Also looks too light a colour to be 396, despite what the paint code says

depends who buys this wreck… if this is a shop kind of  "smooth operator" the paint can be on the very top of the list … an otherwise very short list

Hi Brad,

I pity the fellow that put money on the table for that exemplar … he will soon find out by the time he is done it will have cost him over $50K to $60K … he or she might have never heard that car companies make there main profit on spare parts

Perhaps he/she join the Pagoda SL Group and we can follow along as time goes on  what a resturation project that will be.

The car auction ended with a 20K bid winner.  If the buyer shows up on this forum I'm sure there are a few here that have taken on a project with extreme body work that could help.  Although the cost will be high ...

in such a case the owner would have to study nearly all the forum history in detail... he will really need it
