Hood or bonnet release cable
« on: August 27, 2012, 01:39:57 »

Guys,

Whether you are a hood or bonnet man, can anyone give me some idea how the release cable is routed under the dash then in the engine bay (photos would be fantastic).  I have far too much slack under the dash.

Cheers

George,
the routing depends a lot on what kind of brackets - if any - you have next to the brake booster.
Here are three versions:
Alfred
1964 230SL manual 4-speed 568H signal red
1966 230SL automatic 334G light blue (sold)
1968 280SL automatic (now 904G midnight blue)

Alfred,

Thanks for the pics - I should have highlighted that my car is RHD, but your photos show that my cable passes through the firewall too far towards the centre - I shall have to find a hole further outboard.

Thanks again for taking the time

Or perhaps you have a LHD cable?  :o
They may have different lengths since they have different part numbers?
