Went on the linkage tour to solve a problem, but no luck, got the linkages set up idles at 750 but when I put the auto in gear it goes up to 1000 rpm which is to high the CSS will not adjust in anymore.where am I going wrong, the linkage is set up from the hole in the intake casting using a 10mm dowel to line up the ball socket, when set up like this the measurement from the IP is not 233mm should it be? Cheers. Mike. PS its a 1966 230 auto

233 sounds about right. Maybe you could bend the arm that sits against the CSS plate. With the solenoid not engaged it should just about touch the plate.

Thanks for the quick reply, my linkage from ball socket to ball socket centre from the IP is 230mm using the dowel in the hole in the intake casting method does that make the 233mm recommended irrelevant.Thanks.Mike.

It's a good idea to have everything as close as possible but I know that every engine will tune a bit diffrently so where it runs best is the place leave it. Having the throttle linkage set up so that both the injection pump and the air control valve open together is most important for smooth operation.

The air valve opens faster than the IP through the middle of its movement so the engine will naturaly lean out while driving. If you find a lack of power or a slight richness, as shown by looking at the spark plugs after a long run, a small adjusment may improve this. Overall, I'd prefer a that slight richness to too lean, and of course, just right over either.
