All Pagodas should be considered equal, but somehow I still like the one I have ;)

Verrrrrry nice

I think I like yours than mine.

Maybe a 12th Commandment is in order. Thou shalt not covet another's Pagoda ;)

Extremely nice specimen you have there Stan.  I would be partial too.
All it needs is a King Air in the background!

Dash,

I gather that a nice KingAir would me much easier to get and put behind than finding a nice Pagoda. ;D

Besides, I wonder whether I could land a King at that grass filed, which was quite short. But if you insist, I could give it a try :D

True statement!

I'd suggest a C-90 over a B200 for your grass strip there.  Can't wait for the pics!   :o

Dash,
so far I was not able to get the two together at the same place (those security issues that prevent you from getting your car close to a plane...) I hather that some photo shop would resolve that important issue :)

After careful consideration the 11th should be:
thou shalt not cherish thy Pagoda more than thy wife…..

or vice versa????

A neighbour stopped me and my daughter at an intersection today (literally walked infront of my car) because he wanted to see who was driving the "dainty white convertable" down his street.  He said that I should try driving a real car instead of my "pretty little ladies car" so after parking my pagoda he threw me the key to his 65-66 (?) Vette convertable.

All I can say is - there is no comparison - the Pagoda is so refined compared to his Vette.   I love my pagoda.

I looked up an old road test from Road and Track  to see what they said way back then.

Corvette:  Lacks finesse - like using a 5lb axe when a rapier, properly designed, could do as well.   And with more grace.  The personality we associate with the Vette is the Animal, one who prefers to attain the goal with brute stength and bared chest rather than art and fast footwork.

Mercedes - The Mercedes Image - square.  Literally square and figuratively not all that swinging.  Well built yes.  High class engineering, yes.  Nothing frivilous, no never.  Strictly functional.  Even dull. A car for doctors. Or engineers.

Today - 40 years later there is nothing dull about the Pagoda.   I asked my daughter which one she liked better - I explained that the vette is probably worth more than the Pagoda and she thought that my car was the much nicer of the two.  Other than the lumpy cam at idle and the amazing power the vette was like driving a rattly old truck.  The brakes were difficult - the shifting was hard and the car rattled over every crack in the pavement.

I love my Pagoda even more today (and to think that only 12 months ago I thought that I needed that Vette in my garage).

Pagodas ooze style which is more than I can say about any corvettes out there, almost 50 years old no car even comes close to it. the perfect balance in form and function.

(excuse my temper I just can stand anybody talking down our cars) :D

By coincidence...a friend of mine and I both showed up to a party on Saturday night...me with my top-down '67 pagoda, he with his original un-restored light maroon with saddle interior '67 Corvette. Both cars received a great deal of attention and accolades. He's a dyed in the wool muscle car guy and I favor the European touring cars. Still, we both agreed that we each are fortunate to own and drive such special vehicles. While we both are fans of different car styles, we both admitted that we just fans of vintage 60's cars in general.

Guys...its not the car that's at issue here, its the owner!

The car has 728H dark grey color on both the body and the hard-top. This color was used in 1971 models between 1968 and 1971. This particular one was produced among the last 80 cars in February/March 1971.

However, when you look at the Technical Manual's color tables, the 728H looks quite different from what my picture shows.

I noticed that under some specific light conditions, the perception of the color varies quite a lot.

This pic (and many others as well) were taken just before sunset, making the print reflections more like gray-olive.

Nevertheless, I shamelessly agree that it is a special one indeed... :)

Stan,  that color looks exactly like a Ferrari color used between `67 and `71.  It was called Grigio Ortello (by Italver) and was a metallic grey with touches of olive in it.  It too was almost impossible to photograph with any fidelity.  It kept changing colors as the sun moved.
Your car is absolutely magnificent.

A very nice car indeed!!  However are you sure the color is 728H?  I ask because my car is 728H and your car looks very different than mine.

To Hauser,

Interesting to se that e have almost identical cars (1971, same paint, black inferior AC etc). The only difference is that yours is the Euro version and mine the US. Neddles to say that I find yours even more attractive, but nevertheless…. one has to put up with what one has :)

Regarding color effects of 728H: again, with this particular paint the car seems to have various aspects depending on the light and camera arrangements. The comments posted about the Italian car paint with the same effect are just confirming what I also noticed in the case of my car.

Time permitting, I will post this weekend more photos showing my Pagoda under various light conditions, where She goes from plain dark grey to the olive-grey.

In fact, when looking at the pictures your beautiful car, I can see the same changing effect. On the pic number 13 in the series, the car is definitely turning "olive-grey" compared to most other pics. Wouldn't you agree?
