Replacing the water pump

Hi Guys,
After several other projects, I am now ready to replace my water pump. I took off the 5 bolts holding the pump and tried tapping the pump to loosen it and take it off, but it is not moving. Looking at the replacement pump I see there is a inner flange that fits into the pump housing. I have also tried tapping a screw driver around the top to help loosen the pump but can't pull it out.
Any suggestions?
Also, I think I read some where that I should replace the bearings in the A/C tension pulley at this point too. Should I do this as well?

Sounds like  you need a bigger hammer or a bigger hammeree :)

Just hit it a bit harder, they get stuck or may have been glued in with sealant the last time. Naturally any new parts  you can install while the complex AC bracket is out is a plus. Thermostat/WP by pass hose, front crank seal, auto trans hoses, belts etc. Be sure to use sealant around the bolt threads on any bolts going into the block or you may have leaks.

Thanks Joe. I think you are right about the hammer. I just hate breaking expensive things...... Should I use an aluminum anti-seize compound on the bolts going into the block?  Thanks for the list of things to change out while I have everything off of the front of the engine. I am not sure which complex A/C bracket you are talking about. Is it the long one on the left side of the engine, looking at it from the front? If so, I noticed that part of it is welded to the block. Is this correct?

The original style AC brackets covered most of the front of the engine. Some later aftermarket versions are not as extensive. Nothing should be welded to the block ?!
