Upper Wishbone Removal
« on: November 07, 2012, 20:54:52 »
I need to remove the upper wisbone on both sides to put a 2mm shim under the pivot pin in order to be able to set the camber correctly. Evidently when I reassembled the front end a while back, I reversed where the shims should go and cannot adjust the camber on the front wheels enough to get it into spec. Can see the pivot pins and can see how these shims can cause a situation where the camber is excessive on the positive side--about 1 Degree + is about as low as I can go. I would also like to change out the pivot pin bushings while in there--I have four brand new ones with the proper seal rings. Any advice on how to best go about removing the upper wishbones to do this. Looks like the attachment bolts are fairly accessible on the drivers side. The passenger side looks more problematic because of the intake manifold.

Thanks,

George

Hi George,
Dont think they are too hard.
Just a bit of finesse and lots of patience will get the job done.
Had to do those with my car a while back too.
Think undoing the subframe mounts to the chassis will give you a bit more elbowroom.
