transmission problem

I have a 67 250 Sl automatic and it will not shift out of second gear. Any suggestions?

It has probably stripped the gear drive for the oil pump inside the rear housing.

I know its elementary but here goes....doe the transmission fluid show as full?

Have the gear linkage bushes given up and the rods fell off? Simple but it happens
