MB expertise does not grant infallibility elsewhere:-)
« on: March 21, 2013, 19:34:25 »
Mercedes Heritage is a renown expert in our cars, but geography knowledge is substandard. When you look at their homepage http://www.mercedesheritage.com , it says at the bottom left:

"The Gentle Pagoda from Bulgaria. Budapest’s Vilner has created a bespoke 280SL. Is the Pagoda community ready for the Gentle Pagoda?"

Maybe the community is ready for the gentle Pagoda, but less so for geographical ignorance. It is like saying that Pagodas were made in Stuttgart, Italy  ;D

I actually wrote to them about that some 3-4 months ago, but to no avail. Maybe from their perspective they consider such a small detail not worth the attention. And they probably think that their clients or simple readers cannot care less. Who knows…. maybe they are right and I am a pain in wherever the back is loosing its noble name ???

OK, it's still snowing here and my Pagoda is 5 weeks from the end of restoration :'(

Stan from Warsaw in Alaska, (I guess? ;D)

Nah, it's just around the corner from Chainsaw and just down the road from Lumberjack. When I was in Seesaw last week I met a guy who told me he was from Ritchshaw, which is around the corner from Benzmiester, which is right beside Benzbarn - then I knew I was getting close to home.

Seems to have been corrected.  No reference to Budapest except in comments. I speak not for Roy Spencer, but ask many Americans to identify, locate or characterize many former [eastern European] Soviet-bloc countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia, Hungary etc.) and I'm sure many will come up short...sorry!

BTW, it's Wausau Wisconsin, not Warsaw. ;)

Michael,

Let's not forget Moldova, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and obviously Poland. BTW Slovenia, Macedonia and Serbia (as well as Montenegro and Bosnia-Hercegovina) were technically not part of the former East Soviet bloc, as they were part of Yugoslavia that played officially an "non-involved" game, kind of stop and go between the West and East. ;D ;D ;D

Besides, There are about five towns named Warsaw in the States. Here in Poland we have America. During the communist regime this place was quite popular as you could take a pic proving that without leaving Poland you were able to visit America. Without a visa :D!!!

As for the quoted website, I am referring to their homepage, where you can still see the mistake, not the actual article. I am such a pain, because I wrote to them and they superbly ignored my enlighted input  :'(.

...and you expect Americans to know this?  :D  We have 50 states to worry about and whether or not they are red or blue!

PS.  Moldova simply does not exist.  You can see it on a map, but it is not really a place.  You can't go there.  A total complete fabrication!   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Michael, I expect Americans to know everything 8) And for Moldova, as long as there is at least one Pagoda there, it qualifies as worthy state. Although I agree with all you said about it ;D ;D ;D
