cooling fluid reading
« on: November 03, 2013, 10:47:26 »
Hello everybody,

I am struggling with something pretty basic: I can't find the MIN and Max readings on the cooling fluid expansion tank of my 280 SL (autom. 1969). I know that the fluid level is too low…. but how far should I top it up? Does anybody have a picture of such a tank showing the readings?

Many thanks… and have fun!

I just establish that 1) I can see fluid and then 2) inserting middle finger results in end third gets wet :-\

Larry is 100% correct, there is no reading level, just make sure that the tank has fluid to near the top.

I don't think near the top is correct  ??? That the overflow tank has no level indicator is correct.

I make sure that the overflow tank is at 1/2 level it needs to be that way or you will have water overflow all over the engine and on the floor when the engine is hot.
