Light Green Metalic 250SL

Although I have never met the owner I have run into this beautiful light metallic green 250SL for the last 4 or 5 years at the Lime Rock Historic race weekend.

I am trying to determine if it is an original special order color. This color is not listed in our technical manual under metallic colors.

Can anyone identify the name of the color and if it was an original special order color?

Hi,
it's hard to check colors with pictures but there was no such color for Pagodas.
It could be silver green metallic (DB 861) used for e.g. W108/109/116 .

Pictures are always hard to tell from as a computer that will reset colours as it sees fit but it could be Moss Green 226H for the non metallic or 834G if it is a metallic paint.

I don’t know what it is with greens but they always look different in different lights and in every photo of the same car that can look different depending on the time of day and light. I had a Dark Olive and it did that.

Looks like an 80"s MB color, Thistle Green.

Agree on the colour. You see 107s in this colour in Europe.

Was this car/its owner not known on this forum eight to 10 years ago? I am sure it was sold on ebay in that period and then ended up for sale through the Classic Centre at a high price - or, at least, a high price at that time.

It's a lovely colour but there can't be many 250s in that shade.

This looks like the car I judged back in San Francisco at StarFest 2008.  That car was thistle green, which was available during the mid 1970's and 1980's,  That car has the wide whitewalls and a parchment interior.  Striking combination but not correct for any Pagoda.

It's a striking Pagoda in person. And I love that its an early 250SL as it exhibits 230SL features such as the 2 piece cap and beauty ring and the early style interior door handles and aluminum door pockets.
It's too light to be Moss Green.

Yes...,
I remember this car well.
Silberdistelgrün metallic was his color, beautiful throughout - with European headlights, I remember!
Belonged to a younger gentleman who was very proud of it.
He even  took his little boy child on a child safety seat around in his "new" car, well - formerly his car.
He even once complained about getting some blue stains on his ivory colored leather from his bluejeans ....

Sold the car later off.

Downloaded even a few pics from his car back then. Those are anywhere on the archived disks of some former computers.

He had a short name .... a four letter name .... what was it?

Had to go look through my color books, the only matches I could find were:

274 - light green metallic, 1958 to 1960
861 - silver green metallic, 1973 +
881 - thistle , 1980+

I could not find any in-period metallic colors that matched, although with the computer monitor and small color chips, there is more than enough room for a block (or two!) of salt here.
