« on: June 08, 2013, 01:53:27 »
Have you guys spotted what appears to be the Spa-Sofia-Liege rally Pagoda in this Mercedes Benz 600 Youtube video clip at location 53s?

It looks like it is on the Mercedes Test track and is very dirty..

Clip can be found here: http://youtu.be/DmitU-SNoqE

Oh yeah, we all saw that of course  :'( :'(
Even after your instructions I missed it the first time looking! So good catch although it does not seem too visible.

At an auction a few years ago in Germany I acquired the rallye badge for 'that rally', off 'that car', from Boehringer's co-driver's estate. It's on my desk at work.

Which brings me to the origin of the Group's logo, which as you all know is the rally car in action in the event. We had several designs that the Board was considering back in the day, but the one chosen was the clear winner, over more classic (and cleaner looking) designs. It was produced by Doug Kim. Doug also I think single-handedly caused the US Pagoda enthusiast community gathered here to embrace the very term 'Pagoda' which until then was more popular among the 'rest of world' crowd.

Sorry to veer off-topic, back to the video!
