Headlamp screws

While doing some bulb replacements on my headlamps (Euro) I found that a PO has used a variety of screws to attach the headlamp to the body. They all seem to be holding it in place, but while I have the opportunity, I would like to replace them with the correct screws that would have come with the Bosch unit.

The technical manual describes them as flat head Phillips screws but not much in the way of dimensions and specifications. My MB dealer says he can find nothing on their parts system either.

If anyone has the information to hand, I'd be grateful for any details.

Most seem to get replaced with self tappers at some time in their life.
I think the originals were 4mm thread machine screws with some relief at
the head.

The correct screw is 111 990 01 21 but at a price!
I used 4mm stainless allen head screws with a button head.

Tried to order 111 990 01 21 at the MB dealer and they advised it is not listed as a part for 113 chassis cars.

Subsequently told that MB 'head office' advises part N000000 000454, a self tapping screw 4.2 x 16 mm, as being the correct part. It sounds about right dimension wise (and is considerably cheaper too).

I replaced all of the screws for the headlight to body with 4mm allen head screws.  The threads in there were definately not for self tapping screws.  The previous owner had a mix of wood screws in there where the existing bolts were not broke off.  Stainless bolts are cheap (relatively), easy to find and in my opinion look good.

Yes, M4 machine screws. The trouble is that the holes in the wing will probably have been enlarged by the use of self-tappers. If your headlights are secure, leave them alone is my advice.
