Power Steering Pump
« on: August 19, 2013, 20:40:28 »
Does anyone know where I can get a power steering pump rebuilt for a 67 230 sl? Very loud sounds like a bad bearing. The Classic Center no longer sells the bearing kit, they only have replacement shaft and seal kit.

Most bearing on these cars are standard bearings.  The pumps are comon too.  Its the same pump on my 90 560.  I am guessing the bearings are standard ball bearings like a 6203.  pull it apart and see what you have.  http://www.sl113.org/wiki/Steering/PowerSteeringBox

I bought a rebuilt one from autohausaz for my 67 250S.  The only trick is having the pulley-puller tool to get the PS pulley off the pump which you have to do before removing the pump.
