1964 230SL ignition key hole
« on: July 29, 2013, 10:34:49 »
long story someone decided to enlarge the ignition key hole and fit an ammeter in it, then go and drill another hole to the right and fit an after market ignition switch of another size to the right.
yes indeed.
i have the car in bits with the painters and we have just worked all this out and after filling the ammeter hole of course we have the wrong key assembly so cant refit that.
i need to know the hole diameter of the correct one so we can cut it before they paint the thing.
i can then go and buy the real key assembly in a while but i am desperate for the hole cut out dimensions.
anyone got a clue or got theirs in bits or something

Hi Russell,

Yes indeed what a great idea! I think there'd also be room for another gauge between the instrument cluster and the dash light, and maybe three in the glovebox door!

I have a RHD dash apart, I will send photos and measurements later today.
