A couple of weeks ago I did my last Pagoda summer run as I was in California before returning to France ... back to work. As some of you may know I was having a little trouble with the car and changed out the fuel filter and was chasing a vacuum leak. I didn't have time to really figure out what was going on but as some on this forum suspected my symptoms were not related to fuel filter or a vacuum leak. After the fuel filter change, the vehicle drove much much better, but only for awhile. After solving the vacuum leaks around the air intake, the car again ran almost perfect ... but then the symptoms of low power at low RPM etc returned.
One of the guru's on this forum sent me a PM as he suspected I had an ignition/points/resistance issue and probably not a fuel or vacuum issue ... I think he's right. It seems it was just coincidence that the car ran almost perfect after fixing the vacuum and changing the fuel filter. I really did not have time to chase this down as I was heading back to France but this will be my point of attack the next time ... I will be switching to Pertronix or something like that to start and getting an ohms meter and learning how to use it etc ...
Despite these issues, I did get a couple of nice runs in while I was there ... and due to amazingly perfect weather in Paris this weekend, after 10 days of rain, I was reminded of my runs in California a couple of weeks ago ... hence this post ... a few photos from the beach area of Los Angeles.
