Blocked grease point upper wishbone

I know the topic of possibly blocked grease points has been covered in other posts, but I have a question relating to a specific grease point and what can be done to investigate/clear potential blockages.

As I try to grease the left side upper wishbone grease nipple nearest the front, the grease just seems to come out around the grease gun nozzle. When I push the nozzle on firmly, a lot of pressure is needed on the grease gun levers, but this just seems to push grease out of other threaded joints on the grease gun.

I unscrewed the nipple and I can get grease through that no problem. When I gently push something into the open grease channel, some of my new grease is in there but there is still old stuff in there (not solidified). The issue is the force required on the grease gun and it is not visibly driving old grease out like it does on other grease points.

I tried squirting in some WD40 and it cleaned out the visible part of the grease channel quite nicely, but it is still impossible to get any grease through it.

I don't really want to try hair dryers or heat guns given the proximity of fuel lines etc.

Can I further disassemble parts of this joint to investigate further? The grease nipple is attached to a large nut (bigger than any socket I have), can this be unscrewed to probe further inside without screwing up any parts of the suspension?

your situation sounds exactly like what sparked my whole front end tear down...

caster pivot "screw" COULD be rusted up in the threads of the upper kingpin pivot.
try turning the eccentric on the upper wishbone and observe

There's something about the words "front end tear down" that make me shudder......

Looking at a previous posting by Michael Salemi on a similar issue, it looks like items #66 and #67 in the diagram in that thread could be unscrewed to facilitate cleaning. Correct?

Can I just unscrew them or do I need to provide additional support anywhere while I do this?

misread your post! thought the outer pivot was the subject...
in that case... im not to educated. as far as i know, I think its possible to do what you are saying, if you take spring tension off the upper wishbone via floor jack on the lower wishbone, and do a cap at a time. the only concern I would have is aligning the "bushing" caps upon re-install
