Rev increasing when brakepedal is pushed
« on: October 25, 2013, 19:22:58 »
As the titel explains, after I reinstalled my overhauled head I also installed a 123-ignition.
I had some issues with the finetuning and finally a broken sparkplug lead seemed causing all the problems.
Now everything works fine apart from the strange effect that when I push my brakepedal my revs increase with about 700 rpm.
Any ideas what the reason might be? It's a mistery to me  ???

Regards

Your brake booster is leaking. The engine gets more air when you press the pedal. It may be the membrane but more likely it leaks through the saft/valve seals inside the booster.

Agree with Star63.  Usually it is the brake booster.  I had the same issue.  You will find plenty of info within the forum on how to test the hose, check-valve etc.

The company that rebuilt my booster also advised that sometimes it's only the gasket between the master cylinder and the booster so check that as well before committing to a replacement booster.

With that much rise in RPM you should feel lack of power brakes.  Mine clearly felt like manual brakes when it went out.

Ok that is obvious. Sorry for the late response but I was away for the week-end. Thanks for the answer
