Here's a picture of a nice original, not molested 250SL I just bought.  Has the original soft top on it, and all the rest  original except for a bit ofl respray on left front fender.

I am re-commissioning it as I write this. So far so good.

It's not that I prefer 250's, they seem to find me.  I have owned six of them in my years, two 230's and no 280's.

I look for nice original cars, hard to find 230's and 250's and possibly easier on 280's.

Reading the topic I expected to see a rusty one; looking at the picture it looks great. If you can find a 250 SL in that shape I think you found a needle in a haystack, no?

What did you do with the other cars?

I have my Ivory 250SL whcih I have owned since 1971, I restored a red 250 that is now owned by Jonnie B, two others were parts cars, the other is the 1968 250SL which I just bought and the 230SL was built into a vintage race car using a Eurospec 280SL motor.  That car was sold about ten years ago and raced extensively in the Chicago area. That only adds up the five 250SL's not six as I had thought.

Time to source a good 280SL.

In case your are interested, The 250SL had a few  (I thought) noticeable dents all over due to poor storage over the years.  The car is rust free, but not dent free.

So I called a paint less dent remover guy that Alex D recommended

Believe it or not he spent eight hours removing 63 dents.  Now the car looks absolutely great and the best news of all, no additional body work necessary except for a larger dent in the left year quarter. he said the Pagoda is a great candidate for paint less dent removal due tho the quality of the aluminum and the steel.

I am having some work done on the MB tex interior replacing the heater levers myself.

When it is done, I'll post more pictures.
