USA import to uk
« on: October 31, 2013, 20:02:51 »
I awaiting delivery of my 1970 pagoda next week from USA and just completing the revenue forms

I have data card 4 and have checked the technical pages

I'm confused as I need the chassis number and not sure where to find it,if it has one or indeed part of another number

I need country and date of fist reg, this is not completed on data card and it does say this is only a requirement in Germany, this is however a USA car

Any help is useful

Many thanks

The chassis number would be on any documentation you received from the seller; in the USA this would almost be required on a Title, Registration or Bill of Sale; never seen a car change hands legitimately w/o it.

The number can generally be found, if intact, on a data plate on the driver's side door jamb, and sometimes on a little tag stuck between the front windshield glass and gasket.

Here's one example:
Michael Salemi
Davidson, North Carolina (Charlotte Area) USA
1969 280SL (USA-Spec)
Signal Red 568G w/Black Leather (Restored)
2023 Ford Maverick Lariat Hybrid "Area 51"
2023 Ford Escape Hybrid
2024 Ford Mustang Mach Ex PEV

Hi Michael,

I've often wondered what the "8" stands for in the Model shown as ----> *280 SL/8* on our data plate in the door jam/ Do you know?
