Winter Drive
« on: January 05, 2009, 21:32:03 »
Who says we can't enjoy a Pagoda up here in the northern hemisphere in the dead of winter?  We've missed most of the nasty stuff so far (knock on the center console!) and I still avoid taking the SL out if there is salt still on the roads from the last event.  But yesterday was gorgeous and the salt from an earlier freeze was washed away last week.  "She who must be obeyed" and I decided to take a drive, so we dug the SL out of hibernation and gave it a good run.  (Any excuse to keep the injector pump happy!)  Went down to Cobbs Island in southern Maryland for crabs at Capt. Johns.  Took the scenic route and made a 190 mile round trip of it.  You know the crabs are good if they're worth driving almost 200 miles for 'em!  ;^)  Left the camera at home though and missed a great waterside shot!

Well, Mike, it isn't always easy.

After selling the car wash I was free this holiday season and went up north for a week, where the Pagoda hibernates for the winter.  Well, the Mt. Pleasant (MI; no mountains to be found.  Go figure.) area has had the worst winter in 112 years so far...over 4 feet of snow.  I was not able to really get the car out of the garage...it looked promising for a while, but then we had another 5" of snow while I was there.  They don't salt the roads in this lake region, but the county road was a 2-track, and lots of ice and ruts and potholes...

I think I heard the Pagoda say "thank you for leaving me alone" as I was pulling out of the garage Saturday night as we headed home ahead of the impending ice storm which came Sunday morning.

I do agree with Mike and Michael, it was my plan to take our Golden Retriever to the Vet for her shots tomorrow. I guess I will have to propane that for a few days.

We woke up this morning to 2.5 Feet of the withe stuff. :) The photo is our table on the deck … gives you a slight idea what we woke up to this morning.

I know this is an old thread …. any snow in your parts of the world and let's post some Pagoda / Pagode pictures in the snow :)

The red Pagode (picture below) in the snow below is from the 2014 German Site Calendar just to inspire some of you to take a picture of your treasure in the snow :)
