hello

can anyone tell me where i can find an accurate parts illustrated publication that  shows a picture of an area along with a part # for example, i need currently the automatic transmission bushing(s) (if there is more then one) that connect the linkage to the shift lever, mine is disintegrated and fell off.

also before this happened, the car would start in any gear .... was accidentally started and took off in reverse, fortunately i stopped it in time but wow what a scare... any thoughts???

thx

Hi there,
Just been there and done that. See this thread: http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=19453.0

Just give Tom a call at the classic center and he will fix you up. The postage was slightly more than the two bushings which were under ten dollars.

Hello Rok,

The neutral safety switch is mounted on the firewall. It keeps the engine from starting in forward or  reverse gears. It is controlled by a cable which goes down to the transmission linkage lever. Make sure it is not broken or bent. Replace the linkage rod bushings first then adjust the cable so the car only starts in neutral or park. New cables are available for less than $30.00 if yours is broke.

Suggest you sign up for a free subscription to the Mercedes Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) at www.startekinfo.com to see diagrams and part numbers.

ROK,

The part number is: 112-268-01-50. I just ordered two last month from Tom Hanson at the MB Classic Center 949-598-4845. $3.57 per bushing. You need two for both ends of the link, though you probably only have one that has failed.

hello ctaylor 738 or anyone else using the MB Tech info site...

was finally able to get the site link to work.... i think the shopping on the internet created such heavy traffic it would not work.. one question please, the site (when subscribing) said it is free yet they want a credit card w/no explanation in order to continue...  do you know if there is a charge and/or why they want a credit card..?

making progress with the car slow but certain.. thank you everyone for the continued tips and info :)

thx

The EPC is free only for US residents and they use the card to verify your address.
