Mercedes 300 new book
« on: November 16, 2013, 14:08:04 »
I just spotted a new book about the 300 model published by Motor-Mania. This is a French edition house so no surprise their books are in French only. Which is actually too bad as I find that these publication would successfully sell elsewhere as well. Here is the link
http://www.motors-mania.com/fr/livres-automobiles/4862-mercedes-benz.html

They have also published an excellent book about "our" Pagodas, with many great pictures and most importantly with a foreword by the maître carrossier Paul Bracq. Unfortunately, the book is not available anymore.

Btw they have 77 books (as it appears from their website) about various Mercedes models in stock, which is quite impressive.

Stan, that book is probably a reprint and translation.  Adler's been writing books for years, and he does not write in French.

Michael,

I was misled by the label "new" next to the book's description, which probably indicated that it was new indeed on the French market only...

Thanks for the info

No doubt, it is it! Reading the description I could not find any reference that it is a translation, but this reminds me of the years 60s and 70s. Then, several singers in France (notably Claude Francois, but not only him) made their careers using songs sourced in the US and presenting that |new| songs as the original French hits. Even today many people in France believe these songs were French and they are treated as part of the French artistic patrimony :)
Again, that's called "exception franchise" and that's why I love this country :)
