Euro Headlight to body Seal
« on: February 02, 2014, 05:40:35 »
Hello,

I have an Italian 69' 280 with Euro lights.  I removed them to do some upgrades and am considering replacing the seal between the headlight and the car body.  The existing lights which look original have black seals that have points that protrude through the headlight fixture to secure the seal to the light.  This seal can be seen between the light unit and car body when the lights are mounted on the car.  The part available through the MB classic center 826 62 80 is softer grey and is not visible once the light unit is mounted.  I trust the guys at the CC who feel the black seal may not be correct but wanted to check with the group.  New Euro lights use this grey seal but did the lights ever have a black seal that would heve been slightly visible betwen the body work and chrome trim?

If you come up with an answer outside of the Forum, please let us know...I have Euro-spec lights on my US car, and somebody sealed them with what appears to be some sort of black goo, and I would like to address it.

Hello,

I have a pair of new Bosch eurolights here with the grey headlight  to body seal (as stated by ctm14).
The same seals i bought a while ago where black, think I got them from SLS, typical repro quality with some minor manual trimming needed, but at least usable.
