What kind of lock smith can't get the broken key out??   Call a few other smiths.

I assume you took the lock out of the boot, the lock is in your hand?  Can you see the tumblers? If so, you can take the tumblers out and the key falls out.  If you can't get to the tumblers,  you can take it to another smith.

Yes, most likely Mercedes can supply you with a new lock keyed for your car. That is one option and possibly the most expensive. Another option is to buy a good used one and have it keyed by a locksmith for your car.  Fixing the old one is still an option. I agree, find a better lock smith.
