Alternative alternator mounting bracket
« on: March 26, 2014, 01:02:04 »
I just got the a/c alt bracket off my 1970 280. What a pain! Am not putting a/c back, so I need to find what other cars used the alt only lower mount & do I need to change the water pump pulley to match? Power steering belt was way easier than what most posts have described when I found the last adjuster under the pulley. Thanks for any help.

Most W108and W114 six cylinder sedans of the era had the cast iron lower bracket. It must be a six cylinder and 1968 through 1972. Sedans of that era, even 280 SEs used a simplified AC bracket and the alternators remained below.

Run me through the changing the alternator belt again? The belt I got for 280 sl 1970 is 940 mm. Tensioning belt? There appears to be little adjustment. The adjuster ...run me through it again please. Thanks very much

The type of adjuster can vary. Do you have AC?
