Oh my, oh my, I am a happy guy!

The beginning of the summer saw my 69 280SL sitting low in the rear and high in the front.  Shocks were 2 year old Bilsteins.  So I replaced the coil spring rubbers front & rear.  I realized a  dramatic change in the stance of the car.  No longer sagging in the rear, particularly on the drivers side.  However, still did not sit level, the front was noticeably higher and the rear sat higher than I liked.

Following Jim Villers advice, I removed the bilsteins, replaced them with Konis and my oh my! Dead level.  No more Bilstein up push!  14.5 inches from center of hubcap star to bottom edge of wheel well ALL THE WAY AROUND!! (an 1/8 off here and there). I will report back after breaking them in for a month or two but I could not be happier.

Thank you Jim.  Along with the installation of the Petronik igniter these are the three best changes since it was taken down to metal and brought back up in the original paint 25 years ago.  Betty (named by a lady friend) has never cornered so well.
